Community
CCNC is involved in the community. The club supports a charity every year through fundraising activities. See more information on the charity under the About us page. Also, working with the group Soldiers’ Angels and volunteering at the food bank are two ways members work for the community, which you can read about here.
Documentary: Wine Women and Dementia, Nov 2 & 4 at Kiggins Theatre
This film tells the tale of dementia life through the lens of the family caregivers who strive to accept the beauty and the brutality, the hilarious and the horrific – for themselves and their dementia person. They share intimate, humorous, heartfelt stories, told in formal interviews and backyard “wine chats”. These stories provide a vivid picture of dementia life -from diagnosis to death, heartbreak to hilarity.

Vancouver Seafarers Center
Our club delivered 248 mugs collected for the Seafarer’s Center on Nov 15.
Here is what Julie Rawls, Community Relations Manager of Port of Vancouver posted on their FB page:
“Thank you to the Clark County Newcomers group who came on a recent port tour, and decided to help the Ft. Vancouver Seafarers Center. The group collected 248 mugs which they delivered to the center today. The mugs are used in holiday gift bags that volunteers at the Seafarers Center put together for every visiting seafarer between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Each bag contains a mug, hard candies, a razor, toothbrush, playing cards, a warm hat and some socks. Puzzles are also collected and given to each ship so the crew has an activity while at sea. The seafarers tell us they are very grateful for the gift bags and kindness shown to them during their visit to Vancouver. These items are much appreciated during holiday time when the men and women are away from home.”
